sleeplever bio

sleeplever are a three piece outfit dedicated to calling it as we see it no matter how disturbing or uncomfortable that might be. We stand against extreme political correctness and the propaganda machine condoned by the many who would prefer to look away rather than suffer a moment's awkwardness.

We stand against subversive command of the masses by the marketing puppeteers who currently have a stranglehold on the music industry…. (Deep breath, hand on chest) … We are opposed to the ridiculous amounts of money being generated by this machine for the few, who don't work any harder than the rest of us for it …. (standing now eyes to the sky) …. In a stand against these shameless mercenaries and recording industry giants, we sneer at the idea of an army of publicists creating and controlling our direction. We do it all in house here at team sleeplever, and we expect to have to continue in our day jobs for eternity. We are all about playing live and will see you at our next gig

The band are...

C - Bass and lead vocals

Catherine's background is in every style other than ...(What is it we're doing again?) Ranging from singing seedy jazz (complete with a double bassist) to wedding and funeral singer and pianist to clarinet band geek, and generally prostituting her vocals in a variety of projects. Catherine hooked up with Dave, started playing bass and joined her first professional cover band (we use the term loosely) in "static".
Catherine plays a Spector Euro through a 400W Behringer amp on a 4*10 cab

Dave - Guitar and vocals

Dave has played in a number of Original bands of little note - Vicious Rumours, Dennis G'ome, Three Quarter, Phunambulist, and In.spiral Theory. Also played in cover bands in the Latrobe Valley and Sth Gippsland - Hattrixx and Static. "Yeah, my life has been pretty much a waste of time up until this point. But tomorrow is another day right? Right? Hello, is there anyone there??"

Damo - Drums and occasional vocals

Damo’s background is a sordid tale of whoring himself to a number of bands since emerging from a peat bog somewhere on the Princes Highway near Yarragon. Damo and Dave met in “Phunambulist”, a prog metal group with a Meshuggah-like sense of rhythm and timing, complete with a violin player. Needless to say, it went nowhere. After ending up together again in IST, Dave & Damo realised it was “Meant to be” and fell in love all over again. Damo plays a PDP MX series kit with Evans heads and Sabian B8 cymbals which he carts around without any assistance from Dave or Catherine [ Jump to Top ]

What do sleeplever play?

Clearly we are as confused as anyone as to what genre or category describes sleeplever. It's kind of blues based rock, a bit pop, some metal influences in there, a smattering of punk (not the ska kind) and oh we try not too be emo, it happens occasionally, for this we apologise. But here are some influences to amuse you as they do us:

==> Faith No More (only not nearly as good)
==> Silverchair (although not nearly as interesting)
==> Evanesance (but not Goth)
==> Metallica (Not as heavy)
==> Pantera (ditto, but love the riffs)
==> Creed (they try SO hard, powerful stuff)
==> Pearl Jam (We're not worthy)
==> Sevendust (but isn't he playing that backwards?)
==> Grinspoon (but not as whiny, no wait, we are)
==> Motorhead (but not as ugly)
==> Something for Kate (Just Dave's haircut)
==> The Simpsons (but not as funny "you'll have to speak up, I'm wearing a towel")
==> Kim's vaginable peeler (that still makes us laugh)
==> Cosmo's "juicing the lemon"
==> and the greatest rockingest kick arse band against which all other music is measured ABBA.

Probably best you check it out for yourself....
